How it works

The calculator assumes a fixed monthly deposit and a constant profit rate, compounded monthly, with deposits made at the start of each month. This is the most common DPS convention among Bangladeshi banks.

Formula

Maturity = M × (((1 + r)n − 1) ÷ r) × (1 + r)

M = monthly deposit · r = monthly profit rate (annual ÷ 12) · n = number of months

Example calculation

Deposit ৳2,000 per month at 5.5% per year for 5 years:

  • Total deposited ≈ ৳120,000
  • Estimated profit ≈ ৳18,393
  • Estimated maturity ≈ ৳138,393

Important notes

  • Actual bank DPS maturity can differ due to methodology, tax, fees, product rules, deposit timing and compounding method.
  • Some products cap deposits or require a minimum tenure — check the product brochure.

Frequently Asked Questions

DPS (Deposit Pension Scheme) is a savings product offered by banks and financial institutions in Bangladesh. You deposit a fixed amount every month and receive the accumulated amount with profit at maturity.

It assumes monthly deposits made at the start of each month with monthly compounding — the most common convention. Because banks can compound differently or apply fees and tax, your actual maturity can differ.

No. It is an estimate. Actual DPS maturity depends on the bank’s methodology, profit rate changes, tax, fees and product rules. Ask your bank for an exact schedule before opening an account.

The maturity amount equals your total deposits — the sum of monthly deposits with no profit added.

DPS profit rates vary by bank and tenure and are typically in the mid single digits per year. Enter the rate your bank quotes and the calculator applies it with monthly compounding to estimate maturity.
